It was a gorgeous late spring day last year when Karyn and Mike were married at the historic Old Field Club in East Setauket, Long Island. The Old Field Club is a beautiful combination of rustic and elegant, and was perfect for Karyn’s mixture of weathered wood milk crates with Bella’s exquisite floral arrangements.
As no one can describe a wedding better than the couple themselves, let’s hear from Karyn: “I spotted the Old Field Club online a few years ago while helping my matron of honor create a list of wedding locations near or on the water for her wedding. It was so beautiful that it stuck in my mind for about five years! Luckily she didn’t choose to get married there, and my husband and I loved it when we toured the venue. It is a perfect combination of rustic details (the barn-like beamed ceilings) and classic elegance (the beautiful oversized fireplace and the deck overlooking the water). What really sealed the deal for us was the local Long Island beer they have on tap!
“Keeping things local for our wedding was really important to Mike and I, and was one of the reasons we chose Bella Flowers. We wanted our wedding to reflect our taste, our story and choosing local vendors and working with them brought a special touch to our wedding.
“The idea for the flower colors and style came from the wreath detail that wove its way throughout our wedding paper suite. The image was a collaborative effort between myself and Maria Misko and Diane Palma of Digho in Huntington Village. They actually hand painted each flower and digitized them so they could use them in different ways on our signage and other paper goods.
“I knew that I wanted a vintage, rustic theme for the wedding and the wreath design was my inspiration. I’ve collected antique milk crates for years and usually display them in my home. Cristina from Bella was very supportive of the idea of using the crates on the tables and they turned our beautifully! The floral arrangements Bella created to fill them were stunning. They framed the altar of our wedding beautifully and later were brought inside and placed next to the mantel inside the reception. Keeping with the rustic vintage theme, mason jars lined the aisle and were also used again on the cocktail hour tables.
“The mantel was truly spectacular! When Mike and I previewed the room before guests were invited into dinner, I shrieked when I walked into the room and was truly overwhelmed by the mantel. The hanging amaranthus (one of Cristina’s suggestions!), the mercury glass candle holders, the beautiful peonies and roses…it had such a Southern feel. Our guests haven’t stopped talking about and complimenting the beautiful mantel!
“The personal flowers from the day were magnificent as well! One of my favorite memories of my wedding day was when the florals arrived. I was overwhelmed by the girls’ bouquets, my flower girl’s wire basket and, most importantly, my bouquet. The peonies looked like the softest clouds!
“Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience working with Cristina and the staff at Bella. They were great to work with and helped me to bring my rustic elegant wedding to life!”
Thanks, Karyn, for letting us take a look at your gorgeous wedding. Not only is it always a treat to see Bella’ work in the actual wedding, it’s always wonderful to see such an obviously in-love couple on the happiest day of their lives.
