We still have spring fever here at Bella Flowers’ blog.  This week, we’re featuring peonies, often called the quintessential wedding flower. Peonies are a spring flower, blooming in gardens in June. But brides are lucky these days that peonies are now available year-round, although they can be very expensive in “off” months. But peonies make such a statement you often only need a few in a bouquet or arrangement. Peonies come in shades of white, cream, pink, coral, deep red, burgundy and even yellow, which make them one of the most versatile wedding flowers. Peonies are as beautiful in delicately colored spring bouquets as they are in richly colored fall arrangements, which makes them perfect as wedding flowers. Peonies also traditionally represent good fortune and a happy marriage. And the ruffled petals of the peony are a wonderful foil for a beautiful wedding dress.

Bella Flowers frequently uses peonies for their wedding clients. Here white and blush peonies are combined with Dusty Miller, silver brunia,  Café au lait dahlias, white spray roses and white ranunculus.

At the same wedding, table arrangements mixed white and blush peonies with white stock, Dusty Miller, silver brunia, and peachy pink Ilse spray roses.

Some brides love color, some brides want an all white bouquet. This bride described her Bella peony bouquet as looking like “the softest white clouds.)

This is another nearly all-white bouquet by Bella Flowers, where white peonies were mixed with other pale-toned blooms.

Or, you can mix colored peonies with other flowers, such as in this bouquet by Bella:

Peonies aren’t all the same, either. Here giant yellow tree peonies make a showstopper of a bouquet.

As peonies are spring flowers, they look particularly appropriate combined with other spring blooms. Here white and blush peonies, scented lilacs and stock to are combined to create a remarkably beautiful, and beautifully scented, bouquet.

Although peonies are spring flowers, they look amazing in fall wedding arrangements.
