“Our flowers were amazing!… On our wedding day, I could not believe how beautiful our bouquets looked, and the boy’s boutonnieres with the wine corks looked fantastic! My bouquet was special to me because of how they had been able to incorporate lace from my mom’s wedding dress into it!  We got so many compliments on our flowers.”

How did you meet?  We met in the fall of 2007 at SUNY Geneseo when we were cast opposite each other in the play Incorruptible.  Jamie was a senior and Eric was a sophomore.  We played long lost lovers in a dark comedy set in a monestary in the 14th century.  We had met before this but had not spent much  time together.  Being in the play allowed us to get to know each other.
.
Where did you go on your first date?  Our first date was in the middle of a snowstorm in an ice cream and coffee shop (Geneseo is a very small town!) where we had decided to meet up and hang out.  Jamie had no idea this was a date, but we had a great conversation that lasted several hours and got some free ice cream from the lonely cashier in the store.  When Jamie got back to her house, her roommates asked her where she had been all that time.  When she told them where she had been, they all tried to convince her that, of course, that had been a date and demanded details.
.
The proposal?  I proposed to Jamie on our 5th dating anniversary.  We like to try new and different kinds of food, so I planned a special dinner for our anniversary.  We went to dinner at a Michelin Star rated restaurant near our apartment in Queens (Danny’s Wine Bar) and had a wonderful meal.  Afterward, we went home to our apartment and I gave Jamie her anniversary present.  I chose to propose at home since this had been our home together for the past 2 1/2 years.  I thought it would be a good setting for a proposal, and I didn’t want to do it in a public place.  (Jamie: “He’s a little shy!”) I had had this green gift bag sitting in the apartment for several months and told Jamie it was for her, but she couldn’t have it until it was ready.  (Jamie: “I didn’t peek!”) In the bag was a large box inside of which was a smaller box and a smaller box (Jamie: “I was a little confused by the boxes but kept going.”).  Inside of the last and smallest box was Jamie’s ring.  I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me.  She was very surprised but happy! (Jamie: “See! I didn’t peek!”) She started crying and then said, “Yes!”  I had also videotaped it so that our families could see this wonderful moment! (Jamie: “I love it all!”).
.
If there is one thing you know you’ll never forget about your wedding day, what would it be?  We both were so happy and relaxed!  We had both spent so much time planning all the details and making sure it would be great, but the day of, we were both so relaxed and excited!  Neither of us could stop smiling.  We were overwhelmed to have all our family and friends with us for such a happy day!
.
Is there something you would do differently that you can share with other couples?  Well, Jamie and the girls were running a little late with getting ready.  Our church time was early (2pm), and even though we started early, we still managed to run late!  I would make sure both your girls and your stylists know your timeline and stick to it!
.
Where did you go for your honeymoon? We went to Italy for our honeymoon!  Eric actually did a lot of the planning of our honeymoon, picking the hotels we stayed in and mappng out our trip.  We were there for 11 days visiting Rome, Florence and Venice.  It was a fantastic honeymoon, and since we both really enjoy trying new foods and wines, we had an extra fantastic time!(How fun!)

How did you feel about your wedding flowers and working with Bella Flowers?  Our flowers were amazing! We had gone to our first appointment where we met with Ron with some random ideas of what we wanted to do for bouquets and boutonnieres, but we did not have a cohesive idea.  After talking with Ron, we knew we were going to be working with someone who would give it his all to make our flowers beautiful.  It is clear he loves what he does!  On our wedding day, I could not believe how beautiful our bouquets looked, and the boy’s boutonnieres with the wine corks looked fantastic!  My wedding bouquet was special to me because of how they had been able to incorporate lace from my mom’s wedding dress into it!  We got so many compliments on our flowers.  We ultimately made our centerpieces ourselves, but Ron was so great at talking through our ideas with us before we decided on what to do.
 .
Thank you Jamie and Eric for sharing your sweet story with us.  We enjoyed working wit you and helping you see your vision.  Congratulations to the two of you!  We hope the best for you and a lifetime of happiness together.  🙂
